5 Upgrades for Store-Bought Quiche (1)

A custardy quiche will never go out of style. While a homemade one can’t be beat, lean on a store-bought quiche to save time and energy when you need a shortcut. Make your store-bought crust even better, and even closer to homemade, with these five quick and easy upgrades.

1. Serve it warm or room temperature.

A cold quiche is a sad quiche. Those custardy innards don’t taste like much when cold. Serve a store-bought quiche at least at room temperature or, even better, warmed from the oven.

2. Stick it under the broiler.

After warming the quiche, place it under the broiler for a few minutes to add a little caramelization and color to the top. Go one step further and sprinkle the top with grated Parmesan or a meltable shredded cheese like cheddar or Gruyère before broiling for extra flavor.

3. Spread something on top of it before serving.

The possibilities for that something are nearly endless. A soft, spreadable cheese like goat cheese, Boursin, cream cheese, or ricotta adds extra richness. So does sour cream, crème fraîche, or even full-fat plain Greek yogurt. Add spice in the way of hot pepper jelly or salsa, or an added savory layer with pesto.

4. Serve it next to something homemade.

Even if it’s as simple as a green salad or a fruit salad, serve the store-bought quiche alongside something you did actually make to tie everything together and make it a memorable meal.

5. Take it out of the aluminum pan.

This is the easiest upgrade of them all. How something is served is equally as important as how it tastes. Before warming it, remove the store-bought quiche from the aluminum pan it comes in and transfer it to a real pie pan to make it instantly feel more homemade.
