The other day someone reached out on instagram and asked if I could share kid-friendly recipes. If you’re an OG follower, you know kids aren’t my thing. I don’t know what they eat, what they do, or how you keep them entertained. I don’t know any of that stuff. But I do remember when I was a child (waiting for the day I was 30 because being a kid sucks) and how much I loved to eat. That obviously hasn’t changed. But I wanted to help out all my parents out there in any way while they are quarantined at home with their kiddos during this corona virus scare. So I put a list together of recipes that I think any kid will love! There are a few thrown in there that have a little spice to them, but you can easily reduce that spice down to fit their kid-mouth needs. Hopefully these recipes not only keep your kids full and happy, but keep you guys entertained for a short amount of time in between DIY projects and games. I’m not sure what kids do when home from school, but I have a feeling that you have to fill most hours with tasks. And teaching them to cook is a task that will turn into a skill that will help them in more ways than one. It’s pretty cool to think that teaching kids to cook could really change the trajectory of their lives. So we might as well start now when we have all the time in the world. And when I say we, I mean you…since I don’t have a child.

I’m 32 and have 2 kids. I love to eat but do not enjoy cooking. It ruins the eating experience—-I don’t want to know what is in there!
Posts on kid-friendly food often make me crackle hysterically. I loved your post. It is the realest I’ve read:
“Kids aren’t my thing. I don’t know what they eat, what they do, or how you keep them entertained. I don’t know any of that stuff. But I do remember when I was a child (waiting for the day I was 30 because being a kid sucks) and how much I loved to eat.”
When you’re a parent, you don’t even realize it as the ability to think like a kid slowly gets sucked out of you. Thanks for the reminder—was a kid once…this is what I would have wanted/liked—whether it be a snack/meal or just time being with the big grown people.
If you ever need any kids to borrow to test things on for a blog post…I will gladly lend mine.Reply

Thanks for this! I don’t have kids myself, but have step kids that stay with us for long holidays and feeding them is super draining. After years of testing, I have come to rely on a few of your recipes to get us all through. Some of their favs are anything spaghetti squash casserole, and acorn squash chili without the squash. They always ask for these and I feel good about serving them. (They also have no idea there’s any sort of squash in the casseroles.)
