Cars & Trucks – American Gear Guide (1)

ByMatt Mullins updated Sept 6, 2023

Fortunately, the American Automobile Labelling Act delivers a cool report every year that makes it easy to see just what percentage of each vehicle is made with U.S./Canadian parts. The reports break down the percentage according to vehicle manufacturer and year. In addition to the percentage, you can find the country of origin for the engine, transmission, and see where the final assembly took place. The results might surprise you. Some “Japanese” brands like Toyota and Honda may contain more American-made parts and assembly for certain vehicles than stereotypically American brands like Ford and Chevy. For example, a 2023 Toyota Tundra truck is more American made with 60% US/Canada parts content than a 2023 Ford F-150 at 30%. The top American made vehicle brand for the most USA made content and assembly is Tesla. To help support local manufacturing check out the reports for the definitive guide to vehicles made in the USA.
