Davis Square, located in the town of Somerville, is an eclectic area listed on the 2016 top ten Best Places in the U.S. to visit by Lonely Planet. It is just a few minutes walk from Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus, or a short ride on the free campus shuttle. Tufts students go to Davis Square for a cone at J.P. Licks, one of Boston's favorite ice cream shops, to see the latest movie or concert at the historic Somerville Theater, or to enjoy a barbeque dinner at Redbones. Plus there are many exciting annual events - from the giant craft fair ArtBeat to the musical spectacles like the activist street band festival Honk and the local artist staple PorchFest. Davis Square also serves as Tufts' gateway to the city: catch the train here for a 20 min ride to downtown Boston
