Lovely Little & I had a fun time making snowballs to use for decorations. I thought I would pass along the how-to. We don’t get too much snow here in Eastern NC….so we decided we would just make our own. :)
These fun snowballs dry in 24 hours and you can use them anywhere you’d like….inside, outside, etc. {Make sure they are protected outside..they shouldn’t get wet.}
3. String to use for hanging the balls on while they dry
3. Wire….to use as ‘hangers’ to hang your snowballs on the string
4. Some kind of spreader….a butter knife, spreader, etc….any will work.
Here’s how ya do it:
1. Hang your string somewhere OUTSIDE {it’s messy!}…enough that all your snowballs will be able to hang from it.
2. Insert a piece of wire through each styrofoam ball and bend it at the top to make a ‘hook’ that will hang on the string
3. Using the spreader…spread the Snow Tex all over each styrofoam ball until it is covered well. Make sure you make it thick in some places and thin in others…to make it more realistic.

Shaving cream and cornstarch. Mix equal parts shaving cream (foam, not gel) and cornstarch for this recipe, which makes a dense, foamy snow that is very easy to mold.
Once you've found the perfect snow, it's time to start making snowballs! Cup your hands and then dip them into the ground to pick up a handful of snow in each hand.Bring your hands together while rotating them. This motion is what will help to fuse the ice crystals together to form a solid snowball.
Cut of a good-sized piece of batting and stuff it in the toe of a sock almost all the way to the heel. Then, hold the toe of the sock in one hand and with the other pull the open end of the sock so that the stocking is stretched as much as possible.
Add water one small spoonful at a time, mixing it up with a fork. Once you've formed a paste, cover the ground of a small winter scene. You can shape this into snowy hills and slopes with your hands. Sprinkle more flour over the top once finished.
One of the easiest ways to make realistic fake snow is to mix sodium polyacrylate and water. The resulting snow is white, wet, fluffy, and cool to the touch. It is also non-toxic and reuseable. Sodium polyacrylate is a polymer used in disposable diapers, growing toys, sanitary napkins, and gel water sources.
