Specialties

Founded in 1957, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is an internationally recognized brand with more than 6,000 neighborhood and airport locations in the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. Moreover, with more than 5,500 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population, Enterprise Rent-A-Car offers a wide variety of car leasing, vanpooling, car sharing and hourly rental programs — and local car rental customers are picked up at no extra cost. We are committed to doing things the right way: taking care of our customers, our employees and the communities we serve. It’s what we call «The Enterprise Way,» and it has been the foundation for our growth and success for more than five decades.

History

Established in 1957.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car was founded by Jack Taylor in 1957 and is known for an extensive network of locations, everyday low rates and outstanding customer service, including picking up local customers at no extra cost. Taylor named the company after an aircraft carrier on which he had served, the World War II USS Enterprise. We’ve always operated through an extensive network of local, neighborhood offices, each powered by the energy of a small, highly entrepreneurial team. Our first customers were the ones who really shaped the business model that we use today. They told us they wanted to rent cars where they live and work. We have a well-established track record for making rental service convenient and affordable for those who prefer to «buy for the need and rent for the exception.»

I had to rent the car for a week, the whole experience with Enterprise has been good and this just increased my trust and fondness for the rental agency. The pickup from the airport was nice and then the delivery of the car was good. The drop off also very smooth — they are neat and crisp in the return with the shuttle waiting for the airport drop off. Quite a smooth experience — being my first from the airports. Else always I used to get from the in the city rental places.

Everything about the Enterprise location at Houston Hobby airport was great… except for the up sell when I went to pick up my RESERVED full size car. It was the typical «we can put you in a luxury car for only $ 10 more a day or you will have to wait since we are low on cars.» This was total BS as the back lot had tons of cars. Enterprise won’t be my first choice next time…

This was a pretty good experience. Positives: Clean cars; polite and prompt service (the icky pushy, agressive experience that had been at this location for a while is gone – YAY!); nice touch with the bottle of water; shuttle drivers are polite, friendly, and helpful with loading/unloading bags. Needs improvement: Neither agent acknowledged the Costco upgrade (rented twice in one week) and the shuttles now drop off at arrivals/baggage claim – I had to struggle with three bags through baggage claim to find an elevator to get upstairs to walk across airport to find the check-in desk (there are no sky caps or easily identifiable directions to get to check-in). It added unexpected 10 minutes that could have been avoided if I had been dropped at the departure level. (The very polite driver apologized and explained that Enterprise no longer drops at departure level.) After trekking from baggage claim and standing in line I just missed (40 minutes) the 45 minute cut-off window for bag check and my bags were sent on a later flight. Enterprise: Please re-think the drop-off location!

The shuttle service stops, and starts whenever they feel like it. Do not come in late night!!!
Otherwise Service and Cars are 5 star.

My shuttle ride to pick up my car and the pick up experience and car rental were find. The return was where I had my issue, and it was pretty major. My flight was taking off at about 0630 and I arrived the Enterprise car rental center to return my car at 0430. The posted hours of operation were 0400 to 0100, so I arrived 30 minutes after they should have opened, but I couldn’t get the gate to open. I tried repeatedly to trip the sensor, then finally called the phone number posted on the fence by the gate. The automated message that I listened to confirmed the hours of operation, which I was in compliance with, and also provided an after hours drop-off location elsewhere. Since I thought I was there during normal operation hours, I drove to the shuttle bus drive and sent my daughter in to let the man in the building know that we needed the gate open. He advised us that they didn’t open until 0500 and that we needed to drive to the other side of the airport and drop the car off at National, so we headed over to the National lot. Upon arrival, we were unable to access the car rental return driveway due to a pop up barrier that was blocking the entrance. Again, I tried repeatedly to activate their system so that we could enter. Finally I saw an employee walking across the lot and I honked to get their attention for some assistance. They neither acknowledged my presence nor came over to assist me. After looking for another access point to the lot, I ended up leaving the car sitting at the entrance and walking into the lot. I was then told by the employee that the someone had accidentally activated the barrier and that they could not get it to go down, and that I would just have to wait. At this point, I had been trying to return my car for almost and hour. I requested to be able to leave my car at the gate and catch the shuttle bus to the airport since I was my schedule was becoming very tight and I was at risk of missing my flight, but I was advised that the shuttle bus driver was the one trying to fix the gate. I did not know at the time that they were affiliated with Alamo, else I would have then driven to the Alamo lot, and the employee did not recommend that. Instead, we had to wait for them to fix the barricade. I rent with Enterprise about 4 times a year and this was by far my worse experience. If the airport had been more busy, we would have definitely missed our flight, as we spent over an hour trying to return our car. Despite a good experience upon pick up, and use of the car, I am only giving this location 2 stars due to the monumental problems that we experienced upon return.

Overall great experience. Shuttle runs constantly, didn’t have to wait curbside to be picked up. Car ran perfectly it had just over 11 thousand miles on the odometer. They put me into my car within 10 minutes of arriving at the rental location.
The only reason I am giving four stars is because I was charged extra for fuel refill upon return. Even though I specifically declined this option TWICE when I signed the paperwork. So of course I returned the car with a full tank, and the representative was happy to remove this charge from my bill. I will rent here again next time I’m in Houston

First time renting from this Enterprise. Had a wonderful experience. Quick and easy. Didn’t have to wait in line, granted it was 7AM. Was done in minutes. Checkout five days later was just as easy. Very happy with my experience, I wish all Enterprise rental spots offered this experience.

I generally stick with Enterprise or Avis anywhere I travel. Every time I stray out of this format, I get charged too much, or crappy customer service. My experience at this location has been a pleasure. Needed a nice comfortable car for a couple days, so naturally, I did some comparison test and as always, Enterprise is more competitive than anyone else so I booked a standard car online. Went to the lot, walked into the office and got greeted right away by a friendly guy behind the counter. Friendly guy walked us to the lot and said they’re out of standard car, what would I like to do? I said I don’t care, as long as it’s not Nissan, or GM. Friendly guy said well, you get upgrade to full size, because that’s all we have right now, so take your pick sir. So out of the choice of an admittedly very nice 2016 Impala or a 2016 Sonata, I picked the 2016 Ford Fusion. Friendly guy said please walk around the car and let me know if you see any dings. I walked around the car and nit picked the dings. Friendly guy said please sign here, key is inside, hand the lady at the gate your driver licence, have a nice day, so I did. The whole ordeal took about 5 minutes, 4 of which was me deciding which car to pick.
Fast forward a couple days, I drove the nice Fusion back into the lot. A nice friendly gal was waiting. She waved me into the parking spot. Friendly gal asked if I have any comment or issues, I said no, she handed me a slip and said this is your final charge, please have a nice day. I look at the final charge and confirm that it’s the same price that I booked (for a smaller car) a couple weeks ago. I said thank you to the nice friendly gal and went on my way. The whole ordeal takes 30 seconds.
Fast, efficient, friendly customer service. I will be back.

Renting a car can be so hit or miss. Your perception of service ultimately depends on whether or not something happens during your rental period and how they handle it. In my case, it was smooth sailing so I didn’t have to interact with anyone.
Booking was easy. Check in at the airport was easy (use the little kiosk and don’t stand in line waiting for the counter service if you are using a credit card). Shuttle driver was super friendly and helpful with our bags. I really thought the process was going to take forever but it was really quick.
Once at the rental lot, we were given complimentary water bottles and brought to the lot to choose our car. I upgraded to a Jeep because I’m insane but we negotiated a price on the spot and I drove off the lot in a Jeep Wrangler for a couple hundred more for the week than I had anticipated. Merry Christmas to me. The friendly salesguy did a walk-around with me to check for dents and scratches and mark any existing and explained all the options (insurance and all that) and off we went.
Everything was fine. The car was clean and ran well and the price at the end was as expected. I’d use them again in a heartbeat.

Probably the best service at an Enterprise I’ve ever gotten. Will definitely rent from this location serving Hobby again! Plus, many of the employees are graduates of the University of Southern Mississippi, so you know they’re great! :)

Enterprise is my go to car rental agency. The service has been enthusiastic and consistent and generally superior to several other major car rental agencies. Price is nice (and Enterprise prices are competitive) but consistent service is important too.

So my car broke down today, sucks but it happens to the best of us. While I was waiting on AAA to come and tow me away my wife made a reservation at Enterprise for me to get a rental.
Since we are AAA Plus members, I got a free upgrade in car size. The tow truck driver dropped me off and I was greeted by Enterprise Representative Rick. I gave him my reservation number and he pulled it up, I asked about the vehicle size and told Rick I would like a Toyota Camry. He told me that he was the manager and he was going to take care of me. He didn’t mention that he shared P.T. Barnum’s philosophy of, «there’s a sucker born every minute.»
Rick said, lets look at the SUV. He asked if I was comfortable in it and before I could answer he says, you know what, never mind. I’m going to put you in this truck. We look at the truck and that’s when he drops the bomb that the truck was $ 50 per day over the $ 24.99 base rental price. I was perplexed at the overage and said I was going to call AAA back and confirm what they previously told me about the upgrade.
AAA asked to talk to him so I put Rick on the phone. They explained I was a Plus member and he said I never told him that I was AAA Plus, that’s true because I didn’t know I needed to. Rick tells me I would have to make a new reservation with my AAA status included and that I shouldn’t do it because I wouldn’t get the same quote and it would be more, I should just take the «deal» he was offering on the truck. I rolled the dice and made a new reservation, and what do you know… got the same price quote.
Went back inside and Hudson waited on me. Gave him my new reservation number and told him I wanted a Toyota Camry. He said, sure, no problem but it would be a $ 10 per day upgrade fee. He explained that my AAA Plus status got me one upgrade level but the Camry was two levels up. I agreed and that’s what I drove away with.
I really wish Rick had been honest, less aggressive and explained the upgrade policies, and given me a Camry (like I asked) instead of trying to push me into the most expensive vehicle on the lot. He could learn a thing or two from Hudson.

I generally use Enterprise everywhere I go, and have always had a good experience. I can’t say I was impressed with this one.
Upon arrival, I proceeded to the waiting area for the shuttles, and waited 1015 minutes for the Enterprise shuttle. After seeing several iterations of all other rental agencies drive through, an leave with customers, I questioned whether perhaps Enterprise had a different system. I went inside to find the Enterprise desk vacant, with a sign that said to call them for service. I called, and after getting through the menus, was told that there was a sign on the desk saying just to wait for the shuttle outside (there wasn’t). So, I went back outside. The shuttle arrived 510 minutes later (not sure if it related to my call, or just the fact that I had bad timing before).
Made it to the enterprise facility, which was normal and helpful. Checked in, and was walked out to the car. Checkout was done on an iPad system, which was pretty cool (Although, the iPad spider cracks that took up most of the screen like it had been dropped. Car selection was mediocre at best. The car I ended up with had some pretty good scratches all over the trunk area… and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. I asked about other cars around… but, they were all going to be extra charges (and didn’t seem much better).
Returning the car to Austin was painless, so, that was nice. But, overall, I can’t say I was all that impressed with this location…

The Houston hobby enterprise location is by far one of the best I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment that Mr. Mario that shuttle driver picked me up I knew it was going to be a smooth and easy transition into my rental car. They young man at the counter was very professional and polite and made my transition smooth and quick. Upon my return, The two young men that checked the car back in where extremely professional and friendly. The lady that printed our receipt helped us with the baggage I gave us each a cold bottle of water. A five star enterprise location!

I rent from this location every other month when I fly in for business. The shuttle drivers are always very courteous, prompt, and attentive to the fact we have to catch a flight or need to get somewhere quick. The rest of the staff is about average. Usually they’re courteous, ready to help and fast. I’ve only had one incident where the person checking me into my car didn’t mark some damage I pointed out and I had to call to make sure I wasn’t getting charged for it. I spoke to a manager and he resolved it with a high sense of urgency.

I relocated to the Washington, DC area about 4 years ago from Houston. Since relocating, Enterprise has been my rental car provider of choice. Service is usually quick. I reserve online and I’m usually in and out. Much to my dismay, last week I had a horrible experience with the Enterprise located at Hobby Airport. I arrived to Houston Hobby Airport on Thursday, June 18th. I flew in to take my mother on a birthday trip for her 60th birthday. We left on the next day, Friday, June 19th out of IAH. I figured I would forego a rental this visit and just allow my sister to pick me up since I was only there one day before departing again. Unforeseeable circ*mstances prevented my sister from being able to pick me up as originally planned. Once I arrived, I had to scramble to figure out, not only how I’d get to my mom’s but also to IAH the next day because that’s where our flight departed from. I began calling Enterprise on the plane before my flight departed from DC. I held for 25 minutes before an agent picked up and told me I needed to book online. HUH??? When asked if I was contacting the actual Enterprise location, I was told that they received calls for that location but she was not at that actual location. She disconnected the call with me saying the same information I saw online would be the same information she could see and offered no further assistance. I thought well, this is just spectacular!
I figured I would wait and actually speak to someone at the location. I was sure there would be some sort of accommodation seeing how I’ve made Enterprise my rental car company of choice. This was sooooooooooonot the case!!! I arrived to the airport around 6pm to find no agent at the airport desk. Just a sign that said proceed to the shuttle bus. This is often the case but no big deal as I usually reserve online. Avis, Budget, Dollar and Advantage all had signs that read «cars available» but because of my loyalty to Enterprise, I wanted to give it a shot. I took the shuttle bus to the Enterprise location on Panair Street. While on the bus, I logged into my Enterprise account online and saw there were cars available. This was not the case before — which is why I called. My real dilemma was that I needed to return to IAH because of my departing flight the next day. Upon arrival to the Panair location I mentioned not having a reservation, I was turned away immediately. There were quite a few agents. One woman was highly unprofessional and rude. Without making any eye contact, she told the agent assisting me that no walk ups would be taken. REALLY? Here I stand with my luggage, that I hauled from the airport on a whim because of my loyalty along WITH my credit card in preparation to book a car and there was no attempt to accommodate a repeat customer.
I asked for a manager (as the shuttle bus driver patiently waited to return me to the airport). The manager said he was instructed not to take any walk ups and if I wanted to make a reservation online, he’d help me. Again, really? I’m standing here ready to spend money, you have cars available but you won’t assist me? I have to book online? His response: that is correct. You have got to be kidding me?
So my thoughts are, Enterprise must be doing awfully well to turn away business. I ended up having to shuttle back to the airport. I caught another shuttle to Avis Rental car and they accommodated me quite nicely. I do understand that in certain instances, there are no cars available. I also understand that booking online might be easier (and often cheaper). But what I do not understand is the lackadaisical attitude and unwillingness to try to help a repeat customer. Where does this happen these days!!! Apparently at Enterprise! This altogether makes me not want to be a patron of Enterprise. I am writing a review (after also contacting customer service) to be sure to document this incident. I’d like to believe Enterprise employees are trained better than this.
I ended up having to rent a car from Enterprise at IAH for my return and I returned this car to the Hobby Airport location. It was $ 130 for ONE day. I must note that the only reason I rented the car is because on my return, Avis did not have any cars available but their rate was far cheaper. I hope this issue is addressed and that Enterprise does not lose valuable, repeat customers due to the lack of inexperienced and rude agents. I will think long and hard on whether or not I want to use Enterprise the next time I have to rent a car.

Check in was fast and painless, took less than 10 minutes, but I was the only person in line.
I made a reservation for a full size vehicle. Note that I am 67, 265 lbs so I’m unable to drive just any vehicle. The representative took me outside to show the vehicles. The one that had been prepared for me was an Optima; unfortunately, someone had smoked in the vehicle prior to returning it so that was a no go. I was given the option of two tiny SUVs. I winded up choosing the Jeep Compass. Lets just say I’ll never be buying a Compass in the future for a personal vehicle.
The car was clean but I just didn’t fit into it and unfortunately nothing else was available. I wish that I was offered an upgrade but you cannot have everything.
The one thing I wished would have been explained to me was the importance of renting an EZ pass. I’ve never driven through so many tolls in my life and I make routine trips to NYC! Seriously, a toll every 10 miles?
It could have been worse, but then, it could have been much much better. If I come to Houston again I will not be using Enterprise.

hobby airport is in need of major upgrades, but that isn’t enterprise’s fault. the area that says «rental car courtesy shuttle pick up» is not where you get the shuttle at all times. Sometimes, you get the shuttle 34 lanes over in zone 10.
other than that, no complaints. one of the cheaper options at this airport. location is 5 minutes from the airport. fast friendly customer service and shuttle drivers. well staffed. free bottled water. plenty of cars in the size range that i was promised. cars in good condition overall. one of my better rental car experiences.
