Johnny Bohmer pushes this GT to well over 300 mph.
Ford GT built between 2005 and 2006 was one of the coolest American supercars to ever play the game but was largely forgotten by most of the American public up until very recently. This is likely due to the fact that tuners and custom shops are starting to realize that you can do some pretty intense stuff with these American racing legends. For instance, Gas Monkey Garage built a car that they said could probably go 300 miles an hour but their team only had the courage to hit around 292 mph. Well, that was until Johnny Bohmer got behind the wheel and pushed it just a little bit further.
Across the entire body of the vehicle, you can see all of the detail that went into making the car as visually striking as it is. Everything from the exterior design to the interior is made for speed and driver comfort at high acceleration. All these things make it a great race car but an interesting feature is the fact that it’s 100% street legal and the driver even regularly picks his kids up from school. So it’s cool to see a car that can do 300 miles an hour and still drive around on the road just like all of us normal sports car drivers.
Speaking of that three digit speed goal, you’re probably pretty anxious by now to know just how fast Johnny Bohmer got his car to go. In total, a speed of 310 miles an hour was achieved behind the wheel of this incredible Ford GT. If there was any question that this car was a super car then it should now be pretty much clear considering it’s faster than pretty much any Bugatti you’ll find on the road. All of these things make it an incredible piece of automotive engineering art and technology that is simply unbeatable by pretty much any modern performance car standards. On top of that, it drives on the road regularly meaning it is a bit of a local legend around the area. Who knows, you might even see this 300 mile an hour beast driving around on the road near you.

9, 2022, the Gas Monkey Garage-sponsored 2006 Ford GT known as the “BADD GT,” achieved a top speed of 310.8 mph (500.1 km/h) at Space Florida's Launch and Landing Facility, located in Kennedy Space Center, Florida, making this car the fastest street legal car in the world.
The GT Mk II uses smaller 19-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport GT slick racing tires, although it shares the GT's carbon ceramic brakes. As a result of these changes, the GT Mk II is not street legal. Only 45 will be built, and at a unit price of US$1.2 million it is the most expensive new Ford ever sold.
Sure, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ may have gone quicker than any other standard production car before it (hitting 304.773 mph or 490.48 km/h in 2019), but in a straight line, this 2006 Ford GT is even faster.
As of today, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 crushes all with a 0-60 mph time of just 1.66 seconds. That's simply absurd, but keep in mind the Demon was engineered with the single-minded purpose of going fast in a straight line.
Absolute World Records are for a given distance or elapsed time, independent of Category, Group, or Class. The current holder of the Outright World Land Speed Record is ThrustSSC driven by Andy Green, a twin turbofan jet-powered car which achieved 763.035 mph - 1227.985 km/h - over one mile in October 1997.
1. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut. The 'fastest ever' car on sale comes with a very large caveat: its top speed is theoretical for now and based on calculations.
That's old-school thinking. The V6 destined to power the new Ford GT displaces only 3.5 litres. About the decision to develop a 3.5-litre V6 instead of a V8, Ford says that more is less. Meaning, with less weight, the new GT doesn't need more cubic capacity.
The last street-legal Ford GT was produced for the 2022 model year. The 2023 Ford GT Mk IV is the model's last hurrah. It's a track-only supercar designed to take the GT's performance to new heights. While last year's Ford GT made 660 horses, this hypercar takes speed to the next level, generating more than 800 horses.
The GT badge on the Ford Mustang holds a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts. GT stands for “Grand Touring,” which represents a trim level that offers additional performance and luxury features compared to the base models.
World's Fastest: 270.49 mph Hennessey Venom GT | Venom GT Top Speed Anniversary. On February 14, 2014, the Hennessey Venom GT set a new world speed record for 2-seat sports cars by reaching a top speed of 270.49 mph (435.31 km/h). The test was performed at the John F.
In 1966, the GT40 Mk II car broke Ferrari's winning streak at Le Mans, making Ford the first American manufacturer to have won a major European race since Jimmy Murphy's triumph with Duesenberg at the 1921 French Grand Prix.
