Here's Why 'The Pioneer Woman' Is Filmed at the Lodge and Not Ree's House (2024)

Longtime fans of The Pioneer Woman show are familiar with the cheerful kitchen where Ree Drummond whips up her most delicious recipes. (And occasionally dodges a pack rat or two...) Ree looks so cozy amongst the wooden cabinets, colorful cookware, and ranch-friendly decor that some people think the setup shown on TV really is her home.

Spoiler alert: It's not! The Pioneer Woman is actually filmed at The Lodge on her ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Why, you may ask?

"The Lodge is a guest house on our ranch, and when we filmed the pilot for my Food Network show back in 2011, I decided to do it there because I often used The Lodge kitchen for events and gatherings...and because my house was full of kids at the time!" Ree says.

Of course, that makes sense—but you have to admit that watching a cooking show with little ones running around in the background would've been pretty entertaining. 😂

"It worked so well as a set that my production team and I just decided to keep filming there," Ree explains. "The Lodge holds a lot of people, and working there also allows me to 'go home' at the end of the day and plop on the sofa!"

A lot has changed since that first season of The Pioneer Woman. Nowadays, those kooky kids Ree was trying to keep away from the cameras are the ones behind them! But no matter how much time passes or who's filming her show, Ree will probably always work at The Lodge.

Although her trip from the kitchen to the sofa would be shorter at home. Just sayin'!
