This method will work with whatever type of pork chop you want to make in the oven – either bone-in or boneless.

It is a versatile way to make pork chops, especially in the winter using simple ingredients.

How to Make Easy Baked Pork Chops in the Oven

Baking pork chops in the oven is my preferred way to make them in the winter. Here are the steps below to get you that tender, juicy pork you love!

  • CREATE THE BREADING MIXTURE: Start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F. Combine the panko breadcrumbs, olive oil, Parmesan, oregano, basil, parsley, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  • COAT THE PORK IN THE BREADING:Use paper towels to dry each side of the pork chops. Place the bone-in chops in a ziplock bag or a large Tupperware container. Toss the pork chops in 2 Tablespoons water.Add the breadcrumbs into the ziploack bag with the pork chops. If there isn’t enough room to coat all of the pork chops, remove two and work in batches.
  • PLACE THE PORK ON A WIRE RACK ON BAKING SHEET: Close the ziploack and use your hands to work the breadcrumbs over the pork chops.Set a wire rack on a baking sheet. Place the pork chops on a wire rack. Sprinkle with a little extra salt and pepper to season pork chops and any leftover breadcrumbs if you like. You also can use abaking dish. I just don’t think the pork chops get as evenly cooked without allowing both sides to be above the baking dish.
  • BAKE THE PORK CHOPS: Bake the pork chops until the breadcrumbs are turning golden and the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer. This will take about 12-14 minutes for 1/2 inch/ 1 cm inch thick chops, or 20 to 22 minutes for 1inch/ 2 1/2 cm thickness. Let rest for 3 minutes.Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with tomato sauce and pasta.
  • STORAGE: You can store the leftover pork chops in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

How Long Do I Cook Pork Chops at 400 Degrees F?

I get a lot of questions asking how long to bake bone-in pork chops in the oven for.

This is a great question, especially because no one wants their pork to be dry and tough. You want it to be juicy.

If you are wondering if you should use bone-in or boneless pork chops, either is fine. I do think that bone-in has more flavor though!

To ensure you have a juicy, tender piece of pork you want want to cook your bone-in pork chops to the correct temperature.

The temperature for pork chops is 145 degrees F with a three minute rest which takes about 20 to 25 minutes at 400 degrees with the bone-in.Remember that cook time will depend on thickness of the chops.

Here is a Nice Chart for How Long to Cook Pork Chops with the Bone-In:

How Long Do You Cook Boneless Pork Chops?

Like I mentioned you can use either bone-in or boneless pork chops for this recipe.

If you pick boneless just make sure you watch the pork chops so they don’t overcook.

I find that boneless pork chops can cook quicker and become dry easier.

I suggest you cook them around the 375 degree temperature or even 400 for a crispier skin.

See below for how long to cook them based on their thickness.

Can Pork Chops be Slightly Pink?

I often hear this question from people. The answer is yes!

The internal temperature should be 145 degrees F in the deepest part using a meat thermometer for pork chops and they will be slightly pink which means they are juicy and perfectly safe to eat.

If you overcook them to the point where there is no pink and the pork is slightly grey it will be tough and dry.

Is Pork Healthy?

Pork is a lean meat that is high in protein so it keeps you feeling satisfied and full.

This healthy pork chop recipe is a great way to eat pork and is can be added into a healthy diet. You can easily cut out the breadcrumbs and cheese in this recipe and just create a blend of spices to rub on the pork instead. This will create an even healthier pork chop.

Try a blend of oregano, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.

Have you wondered How toBake Pork Chops in the Oven? It is so easy! These easy baked pork chops have a breadcrumb and parmesan cheese crust that helps create a tender, juicy piece of pork. These will quickly become one of your favorite pork chop recipes!

Ingredients

  • Four 3/4-inch bone-in pork chops (about 2 to 2 1/2 pounds)
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs {or regular breadcrumbs}
  • 1/4 cup olive oil + 2 Tablespoons
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 Tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
  • 4 cups of your favorite tomato sauce
  • Pasta for serving

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
    2. Combine the panko breadcrumbs, olive oil, Parmesan, oregano, basil, parsley, salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
    3. Place the pork chops in a ziplock bag or a large Tupperware container. Toss the pork chops in 2 Tablespoons water.
    4. Add the breadcrumbs into the ziploack bag with the pork chops. If there isn't enough room to coat all of the pork chops, remove two and work in batches. Close the ziploack and use your hands to work the breadcrumbs over the pork chops.
    5. Set a wire rack on a baking sheet. Place the pork chops on a wire rack set. Sprinkle with a little extra salt and pepper and any leftover breadcrumbs if you like.
    6. Bake the pork chops until the breadcrumbs are turning golden and the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F. This will take about 12-14 minutes for 1/2 inch/ 1 cm inch thick pork chops, or 20 to 22 minutes for 1inch/ 2 1/2 cm thickness. Let rest for 3 minutes.
    7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with tomato sauce and pasta.

Notes

If you see a blush of pink that is ok as long as the internal temperature is 145 degrees F.

If you want extra flavor you can sear your pork chops first on the stove in a skillet. I would heat a small amount of olive oil and brown all sides. This will also cut the cook time down by 2 to 3 minutes.
