Did you the pulse button too many times? Turn the food processor on high and forget you should always pulse your streusel? Teaching your little ones how to make streusel and they forgot to make sure it didn’t over-process? No problem. I’ve got your back. I know how to fix your huge lumps of streusel. Don’t ask me how I know. I just do.

Just place the large clumps of streusel in a plastic baggy and put them in the freezer. After it is frozen solid, place one at a time in the food processor and process just until it’s broken into small pieces again. Refreeze for when you need it again in the future.

How to Save Over-Processed Streusel

  1. Place the streusel in a Ziploc bag.
  2. Put the streusel in the freezer until it’s frozen solid.
  3. When you’re ready to use the streusel, pull it out of the freezer – do NOT defrost
  4. Place a big lump in the food processor and process on high until it’s crumbly like it should be then put it in a bowl & set aside
  5. Repeat this process and place all the streusel in the bowl until all the lumps have been processed
  6. Use as you normally would

I know it’s tempting to put all the streusel in the processor at once; but, resist the temptation or you will recreate the same problem.
