Koenigsegg claims that new tyres and a smooth track made the record run possible.

Koenigsegg has set the world record for 0-400-0kph using its plug-in hybrid, the Regera. This comes less than a month after the Rimac Nevera set 23 records in a single day, including for the 0-400-0kph run.

The record run took place at the Orebro Airport, located west of Stockholm.The Koenigsegg Regera did the sprint from 0 to 400 kph and back to 0 in 28.81 seconds beating the Rimac Nevera’s world record of 29.93 seconds, which the car had set in May. It has also beaten the record for 0-250-0mph completing it in 29.60 seconds.

Koenigsegg Regera price and powertrain

The Koenigsegg Regera costs $2 million (around Rs 16.4 crore) and is powered by a V8 along with three electric motors to provide a combined 1,500hp on premium E85 fuel. The car also features a Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) that, the company says, can reduce energy losses by up to 50 percent compared with traditional transmissions and CVTs.

Koenigsegg is yet to test theJesko, which is powered by a heavily reworked version of the car manufacturer's own V8 petrol engine that has a forged crankshaft and twin turbochargers to cut down on lag. Power is quoted as 1,600hp and 2,177 Nm of torque, which results in the possibility of this record being broken again by Koenigsegg itself.
