U.S. magazine Consumer Reports has once again published a list of vehicles owners like the most. The results are from the 2022 Annual Auto Surveys, involving more than 300,000 vehicles from the 2020-2022 model years, as well as some 2023 models.
The team used criteria like price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment and more, then came up with a satisfaction score based on the percentage of owners who responded "definitely yes" to the question of whether they would buy the same vehicle if they had it to do all over again.
Keep in mind that the most satisfying models or brands aren’t necessarily the best on the market. They may not rate well on other measures such as crashworthiness or long-term reliability.
Chrysler takes the unenviable title of the least reliable brand in the market as of December 2023. The least reliable car of the year goes to its Pacifica Hybrid.
According to Consumer Reports, the most liked car brand in 2023 is Porsche, followed by Genesis, Tesla, BMW and Subaru. On the other hand, the least liked brands, in order, are Infiniti, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and Cadillac.
The top selling vehicle in the US is the Ford F-150 with 750,789 units sold in 2023. The best-selling cars (as in, a traditional sedan), is the Toyota Camry with 290,649 units sold in 2023.
Starting with Toyota fundamentals and making those even nicer proves successful for Lexus—it's J.D. Power's most reliable car brand this year, earning a score of just 135 PP100.
Lexus, Toyota, and Mini are the three most reliable brands in this year's annual auto reliability brand rankings, with the two Japanese brands swapping spaces from last year. The automaker Honda follows, with its luxury Acura brand coming in fourth and the mainstream Honda brand rounding out the top five.
Consumer Reports released its list of the top car brands for 2023 earlier this year. Taking the top five spots, in order, are BMW, Subaru, Mini, Lexus, and Honda. Taking the bottom five spots are Mitsubishi, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Jeep, and Land Rover, with Land Rover at the very bottom.
