Glove Compartment

So, for the glove compartment, I have found that it is best to keep items in there that you don’t use daily. Why? Because you are more likely to shove things back in there and not take the time to organize them since it is not at arm’s reach, which you want to try to avoid. So instead, I would keep the everyday items in the center console.

As an example, here is what I keep in the glove compartment:

  • Scissors
  • Mini first-aid kit
  • Mini sewing kit
  • Container with bobby pins and hair ties
  • Wipes
  • Extra earphones
  • Car documents

Your glove compartment will probably contain different items based on your needs and/or your family’s needs, so if you have more loose items in yours, a great way to organize them and keep them contained is with zipper bags.

These zipper bagsare my favorite and I use them everywhere. Here you can see how I used them to organize my purse and even our family games!

Also, once you consolidate your items into bags, you can add a label so you can easily identify what each bag contains and so that you can easily maintain the organizational system.

Center Console Car Organization

Recreate this car organization tip:

To organize my center console, I use photo boxes paired with zipper pouches to categorize and contain all the items. I usethis label makerto label each container. (I also love this label maker here)

To get your center console organized, I suggest taking an inventory of what you frequently keep in your center console, then grouping those items into categories. And once you have your categories figured out, label a container for each category. I recommend lumping like items together so that you do not end up with too many categories.

As an example, here is what I keep in the center console:

  • Extra disposable masks
  • Phone chargers
  • Gum and mints
  • Gift cards
  • Pen + paper
  • Advil
  • Floss sticks
  • Disinfecting wipes (not pictured)

I don’t know about you, but this used to be the “catch-all” for us and we used to just toss everything in here. But now, all our things are nice and tidy and it’s all easily accessible now because everything has a home and a place to be stored between uses.

Driver’s Door Car Organization

Recreate this car organization tip:

My first trip with the driver’s door space is to not use the door space to store items that are of high value to you. Why? Because things can easily fall off from here and get lost. So that’s why I like to keep it simple here and just use it to hold a few items that I use daily.

And what I recommend keeping on your driver’s door are items you use daily, such as hand sanitizer, trash bags, etc.

As an example, here is what I keep at the driver’s door:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Lint roller – We have one on every door because we have a Husky haha!
  • Fiber cloth
  • Mist spray bottle with water –I use this to wipe the dust off my dashboard with the fiber cloth
  • Trash bags

What you keep in your driver’s door will probably be different from mine. However, I hope/inspiration this gives you some ideas on how to organize your car!

Car Trunk Organizer

Recreate this car organization tip:

For trunk organization, I use a trunk organizer, and zipper pouches to keep everything organized and contained. I then label each zipper bag to easily identify what each zipper bag has. This is the label maker I use. (I also love this label maker here)

To decide how to organize your trunk or what supplies you will need, pay attention to items that frequently end up in your trunk and also what items you find yourself needing when you are out that you wish you had on hand when you need them.

Then make a list of those items and group them into categories. And once you have your categories, you will be able to determine what supplies you’ll need to organize it all in your trunk and how much of it you will need.

As an example, here is what I keep in the trunk:

Car Organization Tips | Q&A

I am overwhelmed. Where do I start?

I recommend tackling one small section at a time and not trying to declutter and organize your entire car at once. You can do the glove compartment one week, the center console next week, and so on.

What If I Have A Lot More Stuff?

My suggestion is to purge the items in your car. Then spend some time decluttering and purging anything that does not actually need to be in your car. And once you are left with all the items you really use and need in your car, you’ll be surprised how much less stuff you will end up with

Do you have any more questions? Leave them below!

And there you have it! I hope these car organization tips and hacks help you just as much as they have helped me in keeping my car organized!
