Inspired by Le Mans racers of yesteryear, the Huayra R Evo is designed to be a race car the very wealthy – and likely very well-connected – can own.

Boutique Italian supercar maker Pagani has unveiled the race-track-only Huayra R Evo – an even more extreme version of the Huayra R which launched in 2021, and is the most powerful vehicle the company has ever produced.
Powered by an updated version of the 6.0-litre petrol V12 engine from the Huayra R, the Evo produces an extra 37kW and 20Nm, for peak figures of 671kW/770Nm.
According to the Italian brand, this extra power and torque comes from new camshafts, a new exhaust system, and an updated trumpet design for the intake manifold, all allowing the V12 to reach 9200rpm.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission which reportedly weighs 79kg.
Acceleration figures haven’t been released by Pagani, however the Huayra R Evo’s top speed is claimed to be 350km/h.
The company says the split windscreen and open-top combination is inspired by the aero screens found on open-wheel IndyCar race cars – whereas the 'long tail' design at the rear is modelled off endurance racers used at Le Mans.
The Evo is 10kg heavier – at 1060kg – and 19cm longer than the standard Huayra R, but is said to be 21 per cent more aerodynamically efficient and produce 45 per cent more downforce.
Pagani claims more downforce can be achieved with the roof panels removed, citing a 5 per cent deficit with a closed roof.
The surface area of the carbon front brake discs has been doubled, Pagani says, and are used in conjunction with six-piston calipers.
Inside, the Evo features fire-proof upholstery on carbon-fibre racing seats with six-point harnesses, and headrests integrated into the vehicle’s structure.
Pagani hasn’t put a price tag on the new Huayra R Evo, nor has it revealed how many will be produced, but it is likely to be limited to its most loyal customers as part of its ‘Arte in Pista’ club.
Here, members are able to drive their Pagani vehicles on some of the world’s best race tracks with engineers, mechanics, data analysts and even a nutritionist on hand to assist the wealthy owner.
