The Quail is a bird sacred to Hephaistos & Artemis. The quail is a symbol of a contrite spirit, communal love, and higher consciousness. It is Artemis in the Greek mythology, who lived on "Quail Island".

In Greek stories the form of a quail was adopted by Asteria to escape the amorous attentions of Zeus. Asteria, a daughter of the Titan Coeus and Phoebe, was pursued by the godZeus. In order to escape from his embraces, she got metamorphosed into a quail (ortux), threw herself into the sea, and was here metamorphosed into the island Ortygia, or Delos.
Her sisterLetolater sought refuge on the isle and there gave birth to her twins.Letowas a Titan goddess in Greek mythology, daughter of the TitansCoeusandPhoebe. She was an early and favourite lover of Zeus. In some versions, it was said that Zeus adopted the form of a quail when he mated with Leto.
