Pre-Requisites of Baking in Microwave

Before hosting a cake in the microwave, here are some quick pre-requisites that will help you bake a rich and delightful cake:

  1. Use microwave-safe cookware only, which includes microwave-safe glass cake utensil, besides a silicon baking item
  2. Do not use steel rack that generally comes with microwave. You can use it in Convection Mode
  3. Bake your cake with precision

Baking in Microwave with Convection – Quick Steps Guide

Follow these simple steps to bake your cake in microwave with convection option:

For the starters, the baking Time should be 35 Minutes (Including Preheat timing)

  1. Set the oven at 170°C
  2. Do not forget to Preheat the microwave for 10 minutes.
  3. Ensure that the mould is well greased (Photo 1A)
  4. Thoroughly layer it with butter paper (Photo 2A)
  5. Pour the batter in the mould (Photo 3A)
  6. Place it in the microwave (Photo 4A)
  7. Don’t open the microwave door during baking
  8. Bake the cake for 25 minutes
  9. Check if the cake is entirely prepared by embedding the toothpick and check that the tooth pick comes clean and non sticky (Photo 5A & 6A)
  10. If tooth pick is sticky, bake for another few minutes
  11. Take it out of the microwave and allow the cake to cool down completely (Photo 7A)

Don’t Worry If, Your Cake has Cracks on the Surface:

  1. It may be due to High temperature, so simply reduce the microwave temperature the next time you bake or
  2. It may be due to excess batter in proportion to mould size, so measure and reduce the quantity of batter accordingly

It may be because you took it out of the microwave before it was fully baked, so give some more time for baking

Baking in Microwave without Convection – Quick Steps Guide

If your microwave does not have convection option, you can still bake a perfect spongy cake. Just follow the steps given below to cut the chase:

  1. Ensure that the mould is well greased & thoroughly layered with butter paper
  2. Pour the batter in the mould
  3. Place it in the microwave
  4. Do not open the microwave door during baking
  5. Bake for 5 Minutes, 30 Seconds (in case of 600 Watts) & 4 Minutes (In case of 900 Watts).
  6. Check if the cake is entirely prepared by embedding the toothpick and check that the tooth pick comes clean and non sticky (Photo 1B and 2B)
  7. If tooth pick is sticky, bake for another few minutes
  8. Take it out of the microwave and allow the cake to cool down completely.
  9. An airy Sponge is ready to be dressed/served. (Photo 3B)
