‘The Emoji Movie’: Meet the Famous Voices Behind the Symbols (2024)

• T.J. Miller/Gene

  

  T.J. Miller voices lead character Gene, who is the only emoji without a facial expression. Dreaming of being "normal" among his emoji peers, he seeks help from his best friend Hi-5 (James Corden), and the code-breaker emoji dubbed Jailbreak (Anna Faris) as they embark on an adventure through various apps. Miller has also voiced characters in How to Train Your Dragon, Gravity Falls and Big Hero 6.

• James Corden/Hi-5

  

  James Corden, also host of CBS' Late Late Show, voices Hi-5, Gene’s best friend who helps him acquire the facial expression he yearns for. Corden will also be lending his voice to upcoming animated filmsPeter Rabbit and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.

• Anna Faris/Jailbreak

  

  Jailbreak is voiced by Mom star Anna Faris, who joins Gene and Hi-5 on their mission. Faris is also known for voicing characters in Alvin and the Chipmunks films and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

• Patrick Stewart/Poop

  

  Star Trek: The Next Generationand X-Men franchise star Patrick Stewart voices the character Poop, who serves as perhaps one of the most easily recognized emojis. Thisemoji is notorious for wearing a dapper bowtie to his ensemble.

• Maya Rudolph/Smiler

  

  Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph is the film’s grinning emoji, Smiler, who brings a happy face to the film's adventure. She is also voicing the character of Precious in The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature.

• Rob Riggle as Ice Cream

  

  Comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Rob Riggle voices the ice cream emoji. While having a sweet exterior, Ice Cream can be a little bit on the sour side with his demeanor. Riggle’s most recent notable roles include21 Jump Street, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 and a recurring stint on Modern Family.
