James Corden, T.J. Miller, Anna Faris, Patrick Stewart and Maya Rudolph are among those bringing the famous emojis to the big screen July 28.

Sony Pictures Animations is ready to explore the mysterious world of smartphones by bringing the famous emoji faces to life on the big screen.
The Emoji Movie follows Gene (voiced by T.J. Miller), an emoji struggling to grasp why he fails to have a facial expression like the rest of his peers. Upset and seeking answers, Geneenlists the help from his friends Hi-5 (voiced by James Corden) and Jailbreak (voiced by Anna Faris) to journey with him through their app-world to discover the mystery behind his face. The animated film also features the well-known symbols such as the meh face, smiley face, poop symbol, high-five, monkey and more.

T.J. Miller/Gene
T.J. Miller voices lead character Gene, who is the only emoji without a facial expression. Dreaming of being "normal" among his emoji peers, he seeks help from his best friend Hi-5 (James Corden), and the code-breaker emoji dubbed Jailbreak (Anna Faris) as they embark on an adventure through various apps. Miller has also voiced characters in How to Train Your Dragon, Gravity Falls and Big Hero 6.
James Corden/Hi-5
James Corden, also host of CBS' Late Late Show, voices Hi-5, Gene’s best friend who helps him acquire the facial expression he yearns for. Corden will also be lending his voice to upcoming animated filmsPeter Rabbit and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2.
Anna Faris/Jailbreak
Jailbreak is voiced by Mom star Anna Faris, who joins Gene and Hi-5 on their mission. Faris is also known for voicing characters in Alvin and the Chipmunks films and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
Patrick Stewart/Poop
Star Trek: The Next Generationand X-Men franchise star Patrick Stewart voices the character Poop, who serves as perhaps one of the most easily recognized emojis. Thisemoji is notorious for wearing a dapper bowtie to his ensemble.
Maya Rudolph/Smiler
Saturday Night Live alum Maya Rudolph is the film’s grinning emoji, Smiler, who brings a happy face to the film's adventure. She is also voicing the character of Precious in The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature.
Rob Riggle as Ice Cream
Comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Rob Riggle voices the ice cream emoji. While having a sweet exterior, Ice Cream can be a little bit on the sour side with his demeanor. Riggle’s most recent notable roles include21 Jump Street, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 and a recurring stint on Modern Family.
Jennifer Coolidge/Mary Meh
2 Broke Girls actress Jennifer Coolidge is one of Gene’s emoji peers, known for having a meh demeanor alongsideSteven Wright’s Mel Meh. Coolidge is best known for her comedic roles in films such asAmerican Pie, A Cinderella StoryandLegally Blonde.
Steven Wright/Mel Meh
Comedian Steven Wright stars as the film’s dispassionate and nonchalant Mel Meh. Wright has also starred in Louis C.K.'sHorace and Pete, So I Married An Axe Murdererand Reservoir Dogs.
