According to Kelly Blue Book, the average price for a new car in the U.S. has reached $48,043. For most of us, that's pretty pricey. But compared to the rides from the most expensive car brands in the world, it's chump change. BMW sells the most luxury cars in America, but we aren't talking about the 760i which goes for a paltry $113,600. We are talking about ultra-expensive car brands that are in a league of their own.
Top 5 Most Expensive Car Brands in the World
For this list, we only considered brands that actively produce these hypercars. While production is limited, in theory, you could order one up, drop off your trade-in, and drive off in one of the most expensive rides on the road.
Koenigsegg Automotive CC805
5. Koenigsegg Automotive
Swedish-based Koenigsegg is fanatical about performance. The ultimate objective is outlandish speed combined with driving comfort, a kind of Jeckle and Hyde vehicle to fit your mood. Packed with unique performance packages, such as a twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors and a combination manual and automatic transmission, it is not uncommon for a Koenigsegg model to have a top speed of 300+ mph. Koenigsegg has four new models, the CC850, Jesko, Jesko Absolut, and Gemara, priced in the $2.7 to $3.2 million range. However, production is limited, typically to 60 units per model so get your order in now.
Aston Martin Valkyrie
4. Aston Martin
Aston Martin is an iconic global brand with a long history of crafting performance cars with style, luxury, and exclusivity. Founded in 1913, this U.K. company has had a tumultuous past but consistently produces eye-grabbing works of automotive art that go fast. Currently, Aston Martin has five production models. The five-passenger DBX has a 542 hp 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with a nine-speed automatic and is priced between $185,500 and $250,000, while the ground-skimming, two-seater Vantage F1 packs 527 hp and costs in the $170,000 - $180,000 range. The four-passenger DB11 is available with the 5.2L V12 for $250,000+, while the 700 hp Volante convertible and DBS coupe run $380,000+. And then there is the limited production Aston Martin Valkyrie (only 125 to be built) that ups engineering and performance into the exotic hypercar class offered at $3.5 million.
Bugatti Chiron
3. Bugatti
Another iconic performance brand, this one dating back 100 years, Bugatti has been a mainstay in the performance, racing, and exotic arena. In 2022 Bugatti's exotic is the ChironSuper Sport with its quad-turbocharged, 8.0L, 16-cylinder engine generating 1500 hp and a top speed of 310 mph. Nothing else looks like it, and it is faster than most. Only 60 will be made, so plop down your $3.8 million and put one in your driveway.
Lamborghini Sian V12 Hybrid
2. Lamborghini
The Italians appear to have a lock on sleek, sexy, aerodynamic design, and Lamborghini perpetuates that reputation with a history of hot-looking, street-legal racing rides. Today, it is their collection of limited-production models that impress the global automotive world as well as the institutions that finance them. For example, the stunning Sian V12 hybrid comes in two flavors, coupe and convertible. Sadly, all 83 of these technological wonders are spoken for, with new owners laying out $3 million for the coupe and $3.5 million for the rag top. Fortunately, a few retro-inspired Countach LPI 800-4 are still available. Another hybrid with 803 hp and a zero to 60 time of 2.7 seconds, the Countach is the more affordable of the limited production models with a base price of $2.5 million.
1. Ferarri. S. p. A.
Of course, the Prancing Horse had to be the number one expensive car brand in the world. Everyone knows Ferarri. Everyone has seen a Ferrari. Everyone can relate to a Ferarri. They build legendary racing cars and street-legal rides for wannabe racers. But so does Porshe. The difference is marketing. Ferrari has become a lifestyle complete with its own line of women's wear for the wannabe racer's significant other. Their current crop of models includes the first four-door, four-seater Purosangue for a mere $400,000, their bargain basem*nt Portifino for $220,000, top-of-the-line SF90 Stradale at $511,295, and four other trims in the $300 to $400,000 range. Ferrari is the "Top Expensive Car Brand" in the world.
