While Ambani is estimated to own 168 luxury cars, Adani is estimated to be in possession of 10 ultra-luxury cars.
From rags to riches
Ramesh Babu's rags-to-riches story is truly inspirational. According to News 18, his father used to run a barbershop. After his dad’s sudden death when Ramesh was just 7, his mother became the breadwinner for their family. At the age of 13, and amid a financial crisis, Ramesh started contributing to his family by doing odd jobs like newspaper and milk delivery. He quit his studies after 10th grade and took over his father’s barbershop (his mother initially had to loan it to his uncle for a meager sum of Rs 5 per day) and transformed it into a trendy hairstyling salon, Inner Space. Interestingly, he still runs his salon.
With bigger dreams in mind, Ramesh Babu started his own car rental and self-drive business, Ramesh Tours and Travels. The first car that he purchased with his savings and some help from his uncle was a Maruti Omni, which he then rented out. As the business picked up, the number of cars in his fleet increased. Ramesh Babu started purchasing luxury cars in 2004 with the first one being the Mercedes E Class Sedan, which cost him Rs 38 lakh. He was reportedly the first person to rent luxury cars in Mumbai. According to DNA India and Economic Times, he also purchased a Rolls Royce Ghost worth Rs 3 crore and a Mercedes Maybach S600 in 2017 worth Rs 3.2 crore.
Net worth
