Verstappen says he is not considering leaving Red Bull right now. And, as he said to reporters at Suzuka ahead of this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix, the 26-year-old confirmed he is not sure he wants to continue in F1 beyond his current deal.
He said: "I'm very happy where I'm at, and we want to keep it that way. I have a contract with Red Bull until 2028 - after that, I first want to see if I even want to continue. That's, for me, the most important (thing) - it's not so much about where. These kind of things, I don't really think about at the moment."
Assessing the situation, Sky commentator Croft said he would be more surprised to see Verstappen move the Silver Arrows than he would be if the Dutchman quit the sport altogether. He said: "Is Max Verstappen going to get that seat at Mercedes first? I don't think so, I really don't.
