Recipe Inspiration

It’s 5 o’clock on a weeknight and you get asked the question “what’s for dinner?” Uh-oh, the hanger monster is about to set in and you have NO CLUE what’s for dinner. While I’d recommend trying to plan out your week ahead of time, things happen and you need some last minute help.

OR

It’s Saturday and you are preparing to go grocery shopping but instead of making it a free-for-all you want to plan ahead. However, you get lost on Instagram and somehow go down a meme rabbit hole only to come out of it an hour later with nothing more than a few laughs and a lost hour.

It can be HARD to decide what’s for dinner, or any meal/snack for that matter. So, I wanted to give you a few ideas on where you can draw from for recipe inspiration. We all need help getting motivated and inspired, but with access to the world wide web, the possibilities really are endless. While I’d encourage you to check out my recipes, I also think it’s worth sharing where I gain some of my inspiration from! Food and cooking should be enjoyable, so let’s have some fun!

Pro Tip: I highly recommend making a list of 10-20 of your “go-to” recipes so that when you are planning for the week you know you have some tried & true recipes to pull from and then don’t have to recreate the wheel. See below for my Go To Recipe Free Print Out.

Favorite Places for Recipe Inspiration

There are countless ways to find inspiration for recipes, but let’s focus on some of my favorites today. Feel free to chime in and let me know where you find your inspiration!

Food Blogs

There are so MANY food blogs out there, so I recommend having a few go-to’s when it comes to searching for recipes, otherwise, you’ll waste too much time just scrolling. Here are a few of my favorite go-to blogs:

Did I miss any of your favorites? Post yours below!

Cookbooks

Don’t underestimate a good cookbook! I recommend when you get a cookbook to dig into it and then bookmark your favorites that way you don’t wonder where that recipe was! Three of my current favorites are this one, this one & this one.

Food Gawker

I recently discovered food sharing websites, which apparently is a great way for me to share my own recipes as well as a good place to find new recipes, win-win! You can narrow down your search and save favorites, it’s a pretty great way to find new recipes that fit your needs/wants. Check it out here.Another similar recipe sharing site is Yummly, I haven’t had as much time to dig into it but seems legit!

Social Media

This one is obvious but social media is a great place to find recipe inspiration. My favorites are Pinterest and Instagram. Make sure you follow the food blogs above (and me!) and also save those recipes so you can reference them later. On Pinterest, you can save the recipes to boards (don’t be cute with the name, be specific). On Instagram, save the recipe photo to a recipe collection.

The Kitchn

If you ever need a how-to for any type of food or cooking technique, The Kitchn is for you. I LOVE this site and reference it weekly to help me learn how to do things (like how to reheat risotto) in the kitchen and get inspiration for seasonal recipes. Bookmark this website and use it often!

Tasty

If you LOVE watching those recipe videos on Facebook or Instagram, run don’t’ walk your fingers over to Tasty.co. There are so many videos here and helpful for those that need some help with what it looks like to actually cook a recipe. You’ll be mesmerized so don’t linger too long, find 1 or 2 recipes and move on!

Try using these resources this week and plan ahead! Make that list of 10-20 recipes you can rely on and then maybe try adding 1 new recipe a week. Remember, food is meant to be fun and delicious not a chore. Enjoy!

xoxo,

Sassy
