Is PET milk discontinued? ›

Today—PET Evaporated Milk continues to be a staple in millions of homes and is used in many different recipes, from main dishes, to soups, desserts and more.

There are several benefits to using PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging for ice cream: Transparency: PET packaging is clear as glass, which allows consumers to see the ice cream inside.

PET Evaporated Milk is a hom*ogenized concentrate made from fresh, whole cow's milk with approximately half of the natural water removed, then fortified with Vitamin D. It consists of about 6.5% milk fat.

Both Mayfield and PET are part of the nationwide dairy company Dean Foods — Mayfield since 1990, PET since 1998.

Pig milk is not considered suitable for commercial production for a number of reasons. Pigs are considered difficult to milk. The sow herself is reluctant to be milked, may be uncooperative or become spooked by human presence, and lactating pigs may be quite aggressive.

Today, Walmart relies on the traditional dairy processors in the region for milk, however, we have had to source products from further and further away in order to meet our customer needs which may cause costs to rise.

So, now we know that evaporated milk is safe to drink from its container, but just because you can consume it this way doesn't necessarily mean you'll want to. Since evaporated milk is thick and creamy, the consistency will be completely different than a regular carton that you're used to.

Skimmed cow's milk, including dried skimmed milk, should not be given to children under 5 years. Evaporated milk is not suitable for babies. Skimmed milk varieties should not be given to children under 5 years. Condensed milk should not be used for babies or children.

Both condensed milk and evaporated milk are forms of concentrated milk in which approximately 60 percent of the water content has been removed, but that is where the similarities end. Sugar: Sweetened condensed milk is about 45 percent sugar, while evaporated milk is unsweetened.

Some alternatives to cow's milk that are marketed for human are safe for cats, also as a treat: Plant-based milks like almond, coconut, soy, oat and rice milks are lactose-free. They are typically lower in fat and calories than cow's milk, although coconut milk is quite high in fat and oils.
