Spinach Dip Tips

  • Can you use fresh spinach and spinach dip? The answer is technically yes, but this produces a lot of liquid. The easy, surefire way to make spinach dip is to use thawed frozen spinach because you can wring it out first.

  • It’s important to remove as much liquid from the thawed spinach as possible! If you don’t remove the excess liquid, you’ll have a runny spinach dip on your hands. To avoid this spinach dip devastation, place spinach on a clean kitchen towel and wring out as much as you can over the sink.

  • Can you make spinach dip ahead of time? Sure! You can whip up a batch or two the day before you need it.

  • How long is spinach dip good for in the fridge? You can refrigerate spinach dip in a sealed container for 3-4 days. Always trust your sniffer–if it smells off, toss it!

  • Can you freeze spinach dip? This isn’t a great dip to refrigerate. We’re sure someone somewhere has spinach dip in their freezer, but once it thaws it’s likely that the mayonnaise and sour cream will break and the texture will be unpleasant.

What To Dip In Spinach Dip

We would dip our bare hands into spinach dip if it meant we could eat it faster. But to be a little less uncouth, we recommend chips–tortilla are great, because they’re nice and sturdy–or veggie sticks like carrot and celery are good too. Pita bread (and pita chips!), potato chips, or sliced baguette all make great dippers for spinach dip. You could, of course, go completely old school and make a loaf of Sourdough Bread to make a bread bowl for your homemade spinach dip.
