What is the difference between BBO points and ACBL points? ›

Only those points won in sanctioned ACBL games can count as official ACBL points. You can win points in other tournaments on BBO, and although they will count as BBO points and will be considered in raising the number (or letter) on your profile, they will not be able to be added to your ACBL point totals.

BBO Master Awards

Players with at least 1000 points are rewarded with a BBO Master award symbol. This rank advances with every 100 masterpoints earned. And so on.

10 MP per table for first place in each group. The second place award is 70% of 1st, third is 50% of 1st, fourth is 35%, fifth is 1/5 and sixth is 1/6, etc. This applies to all open sections for pair, and individual games. The maximum section award is 1.50 masterpoints.

Players who do well in any pay tournament in BBO will earn BBO points. In addition, National Bridge Organizations like ACBL, EBU, TBF may also award their own points to good performers in their specific pay tournaments. (ie, ACBL tournaments on BBO award our points as well as ACBL masterpoints.)

LIFE MASTER – a member who has 300 or more masterpoints recorded by the ACBL, of which 150 must be pigmented, with 25 gold or platinum, 25 red, gold or platinum, 50 silver and 50 black.

You need to have 13 points to open the bidding, counting both HCP and distribution (see counting points).

Who has the most bridge master points? ›

With 20 points precisely, open with a bid of 1-suit, and then jump rebid to 3NT, as if you have 19 points. if you have them. Also, beware jump rebid to 2NT with 17-18 points as convention dictates - you can end up in trouble.

BBO is an ACBL-sanctioned bridge club. Our ACBL games issue ACBL Masterpoints. We run several types of ACBL games. Here is some information about the various tournaments: These sanctioned games have an entry fee in BB$.

As soon as you start playing on BBO you can start accruing BBO Points. These points are won whenever you play well enough in BBO premium games. You don't need to be a great player to win points, and you'll get a shiny 2 on your profile as soon as you earn your first point.

Local (Black) Points: These are awarded at any duplicate session, including club duplicates, complying with the normal rules and regulations of the Master Points scheme. Green Points: These are won in national events and are necessary for progress to the most senior ranks.
